All Things Guitar

The makers and the masters

Saturday 13 August

1–3PM Exhibition of locally made guitars (free)

3–5PM Concert by the masters - Nick Charles and Jordan Brodie (ticketed event).

Why guitars?

Many of the folk club members, and many more musicians, first learnt their music with a couple of chords on the guitar. The club’s activities are replete with all sorts of guitars and guitar styles. This event is a celebration of the instrument – and all who have learned to play guitar.

The makers

Members of the Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed has been making guitar for many years now, and we thought that it was about time to provide our community the opportunity to see, hear and enjoy the skill and craftwork (and time) that goes into making these instruments.

The first part of the day (1 – 3pm) will be a presentation of these guitars which will be played by some of the experienced guitar players from the club. This is a free event and all are welcome.

The masters

The second part of the day (3 – 5pm) is a concert (Tix $15/$10). We have invited two of Australia’s Guitar Masters – Jordan Brodie and Nick Charles – to perform (with their own guitars) and show us all the dizzy limits of what can be produced from the humble 6 string guitar.

We invite you to come along and enjoy, celebrate and be inspired by these Makers and Masters of the Guitar!

$15/$10 Members/Concession (plus booking fee)
