CAVE HILL CREEK CAMP:  MAY 3, 4, 5

(This message was sent to all Folk Club email subscribers on 16 April)

The Folk Club Camp to Cave Hill Creek is only a few weeks away.  I hope you are looking forward to the weekend and all of the good things that will come out of it.  Thanks to Dave Isom, Kerry Duke, Jackie Kerin for working behind the scenes to make this all happen.  We certainly hope that you have a wonderful time up at Cave Hill.

Bookings for the camp have now closed.

THE AIMS OF THE CAMP

To support the overall aims of the Newport Fiddle and Folk Club by

·         Fostering connections between members and between our established groups

·         Build skills and confidence in playing and performance

·         Spread the joy of music

·         Have fun

We look forward to any ideas that that you bring to the camp that will help us achieves these aims.

WHAT TO BRING?  (BYO Bedding)

Most of the ‘what to bring’ is obvious (instrument, voice, towel, toothbrush etc).  However take note that you need to BYO Bedding.  The beds are provided and the camp supplies a Bottom sheet, pillow and pillowcase.  However you will need blankets or a sleeping bag to keep warm.

ALLOCATION OF ROOMS

Once you arrive at the camp you will be able to choose your room.  There are enough beds to ensure that everyone has a bottom bunk.

There are separate MENS and WOMENS ROOMS, and showers and toilets close to the Bunkrooms.

Note that MENS rooms 5 and 6 have an ensuite, and WOMENS rooms 1, 9, and 2 have an ensuite.

There are showers and toilets close to the Bunkrooms

FOOD and DRINK

All the food is supplied.  Dave Isom and I have worked out meals with vegetarian and salad options.  However if you have dietary requirements you will need to email them to me (by Thursday) to pass on to the Camp Kitchen.

There is a bar that will be open from 5 – 8pm.  You can purchase drinks to enjoy later in the evening when the bar closes.

THE PROGRAM

The program above provides a structure to the weekend.  Many thanks to our leaders who have offered their time and skills to lead the various sessions.  It is possible for us to add an additional session if you have the desire to lead something else (there is another break out room we can use).  Again email me if you have any thoughts and we will see what is possible.

That’s it – the weekend is now planned.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me BUT the main thing to do is to register by THIS THURSDAY.  Our contract with the Camp requires that the final numbers are submitted to them by FRIDAY.  Therefore you need to commit by THURSDAY – just 2 days from now.

I look forward the seeing all the Campers up at Cave Hill on Friday May 3 for the start of this musical weekend!

Michael
