Slow and Steady Celtic Session
Love Celtic music? Play a Celtic session instrument?
Join us at the Slow and Steady Session on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of most months.
This session offers a welcoming, low-pressure space for musicians of all ages and skill levels to learn, play and enjoy Celtic repertoire at a more relaxed “traditional” pace, inspired by music such as Martin Hayes, Dennis Cahill, The Gloaming and the traditional slower music style from County Clare. The sessions will cater to musicians who want to preserve, play and pass on traditional folk tunes with others. Players are welcome to use notation which will be made available for download on this page, and will be projected on the night. We also encourage you to play by ear.
Skills developed in the NFFC Slow and Steady sessions provide a stepping stone to the faster-paced sessions available around Melbourne, such as the
NFFC Celtic Session.
The sessions are run by the Leibel family who are experienced local musicians and teachers who are passionate about sharing Celtic music.
